We love what we do ~ most of us, anyway.
My question is do we love it or are we infatuated with our business? There is a big difference.
If you are infatuated, you are riding the highs in your business and loving it when things are going well. Talking big – sharing only big ideas without the results to show. When stuff happens – that client quits or stops paying, when no one signs up for your newest program; you start to doubt. That doubt turns into “Maybe this is a sign that I should not be doing this” or “I need one more training or skill to really get the clients I want.”
Being infatuated with your business is a real rollercoaster. Some days you jump out of bed and are ready to go! Other days, you think, “Maybe I should start looking for a J. O. B .”
When I started out as an entreprenuer, one of my colleagues said, “Ok, so now you are ruined from ever working in corporate again.” So very true for me. I’d gotten the entrepreneurial bug and wasn’t, for better or worse a continual entreprenuer.
When you love your business, you take those dips, crazy times and say, “Wow, that is interesting ~ I can’t wait to see how this is all going to turn out!” The doubt shows up, but you know you would have it any other way. Instead of thinking your should quit, you think, “Hmmm, that is interesting, let’s see what will happen next.”
When you love your business, the show stoppers events become bumps in the road – yes sometimes painful, but quitting is not an option.
Being infatuated with your business is that you think you’ve found the perfect thing and it’s going to work out perfectly.
Being in love with your business means that you realize that nothing is perfect – not your business, not you; and it doesn’t matter! You know your business will evolve and you will evolve along with it.
Being in love with your business means you are in it for the long haul, even as it changes over time. Infatuation means that you hop from thing to thing, coach to coach, hoping to find “it”. “It” is inside you! You are what makes your business fascinating, unique and fun.
Are you in love or infatuated with your business? Would love to hear what you think below. :~)
