Are you willing to do something different?
As business owners, we are the decision makers in our business. How do you make your decisions? This is a critical factor in your business. If we don’t make decisions, nothing gets done.
I have found, sometimes, I like to gather the information then check in – is the answer obvious? If not, then I might give it some time. I’m famous for “Give me a couple hours and I’ll let you know.”
I ask the question (to myself) and set the intention to know the answer. Then (and this is really important) I let go of it. I know that the answer will come and that it will be the correct answer for me.
Sometimes, I know the answer immediately. This happens more and more as I learn to trust myself and those around me. I have even (and this is a big one for a recovering control goddess) said, “I trust you; why don’t you go ahead and I’ll tweak it later.” Wow! Does that ever feel good. And it works beautifully!
Now that you’ve got making the decisions down, are you willing to do something different? Something that not everyone agrees with? That is where the rubber hits the road!
I am doing a Global Expert Summer School. It’s a twist on a telesummit and will run over the summer. I have some fabulous experts who love the idea of how I am putting this together. I’ve gotten comments like, “This is so cool!” “I love how you are doing this!”
I’ve also gotten some feedback that wasn’t so positive. “Who told you could do it that way?” “That seems like a long time, can you hold people’s attention for that long?”
The feedback – both ways is excellent! It made me go back and check in to see what I wanted – the results I desired and was I willing to be wrong? To the second half of that question – Yes, I am willing to be wrong. If it doesn’t work, I’ll adjust or do something different.
So, my friends, where are you avoiding being wrong? Where are you playing it safe? There are times to stick with the tried and true strategies and times to step outside of them. Step out do something different.
