Imagine this, you are about to walk up the stairs to a stage where 200 people are ready to cheer you on while you sing a song (with a microphone so no hiding your voice). Oh yeah, you are also wearing purple and red boas.
That was me a couple weeks ago. I’ve been on hundreds of stages, so being on stage isn’t a bit scary for me, but to sing in front of 200 people? That was another story. I was in tears and wasn’t sure I could do it. Thank goodness there was a coach at the foot of the stairs getting me out of my head and back into my body.
They announced my name and the crowd started cheering. 3 steps and I was on stage. My music came on and I went into stage mode. I sang, I strutted and I even did a little acting. :~) I ended up having a blast! We had an X on stage which we stood on and received the audience’s love. I stood there with my hands stretched wide accepting the love and craziness of it all. I had just sung on stage…..out loud!
For those of you that have heard me talk about comfort zone and the stretch, risk and die zone, this was a die zone for me. It felt like a risk earlier, but when it came to actually doing it, the die zone was triggered.
The same thing happens in our businesses. We make plans and think, “I can do it!” Then it comes time to pick up the phone, send the email or take action. Eeeek! The brakes go on and our excuses come up. We decide to clean a closet, do the dishes or anything else we can think of to avoid our planned action.
My experience reminded me, I will always need a coach. I need that person to remind me of my power and the amazing things I can do. My coach might change based on my needs, but there will always be a coach in my life.
I’ve had the opportunity to work with some amazing coaches in the past few years. Each of them holds a special place in my heart and have been huge contributors to my business success. Some I worked with for years and others were a shorter term depending on my needs.
Where do the pink shoe laces come in? That was the song, a longtime favorite, that I sang. Pink Shoelaces by Dodie Stevens. Here’s a link of her singing this fun song that is on my iPhone for impromptu performances. Purple and red boas are optional. lol
So, where do you need a reminder of your potential and greatness in your business? Please share it below so I can support you!
