I had a visitor, an unwelcome one, but they arrived anyway.
It came in the form of an email. An inquiry. Team responded to the inquiry in our standard way, gentle and yet firm.
The person then went off the deep end (has this ever happened to you?) We ended the conversation with “Wish you much success in your future.” and I thought I had released it.
Oh no, that’s when the visitor arrived, Doubt. He is the cousin to Fear. Doubt told me that I WAS being unclear and not upfront. Doubt gave me the “who do you think you are?” speech.
Interesting…it’s been a while since Doubt showed up and stayed for more than a few minutes. Doubt wanted to settle into my rocking chair and visit for the day.
So, what did I do? I reached out for support. I shared the situation with my peers and also shared that I had Doubt come to visit.
They reassured me and told me I was amazing. They also affirmed I was on the right path – doing it my way. I knew it, but when Doubt speaks, sometimes it gets pretty loud.
With their support and my own knowing of how stealthy Doubt can be, I released him to move on. I also gave gratitude for the opportunity to practice what I teach – reaching out for support when you need it.
While his visit was short, Doubt was able to affirm me in stepping outside my comfort zone and knowing how much I am continually growing.
So where have you invited Fear and Doubt in your business and how might they be keeping you stuck? Please share below.
